Dog-friendly vacation homes in Drenthe
On Bungalowpark Boerhaarsveld you will find a wide choice of pet-friendly vacation homes, where up to two dogs are welcome. Some of these houses have a enclosed garden – ideal if you want to let your dog play or relax safely outside.
During the booking process, you can easily filter for vacation rentals where pets are allowed. For each pet brought, we charge a fixed supplement of €26 per stay.
Walking with your dog – tips in the area
The nature around Boerhaarsveld invites long walks, short rounds and spontaneous discoveries. Here you will find peace, space and a varied landscape in which your dog can sniff, run and relax. Some of our favorite spots in the neighborhood:
🐾 The Mantingerveld
This unique nature reserve combines heathland, shifting sand, juniper berries and fens to create a special Drenthe landscape. It is about a 15-minute drive from Boerhaarsveld. There are several hiking trails, including the popular “Juniperberry Trail. Part of the area is designated as a stray zone – here your dog is allowed to run free. The sandy trails and open plains are perfect for dogs who like adventure. Please note that running loose is allowed only on the marked areas (signs present).
🐾 Forestry Gees
A vast and varied forest area less than a 25-minute drive from the park. You will find wide dirt paths, narrow forest trails and clearings where deer and birds can be seen. There are several marked hiking trails, ranging from 2 to over 10 kilometers. Dogs are welcome everywhere, if leashed. The quiet atmosphere makes it a fine place for dogs who do not like crowds. At the parking lot on Kloosterstraat you will find an information board and starting point of several routes.
🐾 Sleener Sand
A historic forest area full of stories, as several dolmens are hidden among the trees here. Besides culture, Sleenerzand also offers plenty of hiking fun – with wide paths, quiet ponds and several picnic spots. There are routes between 3 and 8 kilometers, well trodden and varied. Dogs are allowed, on a leash. On weekends it can be a bit busier here, but during the week it is an oasis of tranquility. Tip: at the sheepfold of Exloo you can start with a nice walk ánd spot the flock.
🐾 Off-leash areas nearby
Want to let your dog run around for a while? There are several designated off-leash areas in the region, including at Noord-Sleen, Benneveld and the Schoonloërveld. These areas are often fenced or clearly marked and provide a safe environment for playful dogs. Upon arrival at the park, we are happy to provide you with a map or tips.
