1. Loomeer – swimming in the middle of the forest
Just minutes from Bungalowpark Boerhaarsveld is Loomeer – a swimming lake with a sandy beach, gently sloping bottom and shaded areas. There is a toilet block and catering in the high season.

- 🅿️ Free parking or just walking/biking access
- ✅ Very suitable for children
- 🐕 Dogs not allowed in swimming season (May 1 – October 1)
2. Ieberen Lake – quiet and natural
The Ieberenplas is a little further away, toward Grolloo, and is slightly smaller than Loomeer – but at least as attractive. It is often quieter, and the shallow end is ideal for small children.

3. Gasselterveld – bright blue and photogenic
The Gasselterveld is a former sand mining area with turquoise water and a “foreign” character. Next to the lake is the family-friendly Nije Hemelriek, where you can swim, sunbathe and play well with children.

4. ‘t Nije Hemelriek – beach feeling in Drenthe

5. Ellertshaar – quiet forest lake where dogs are also welcome
Ellertshaar ‘s forest lake is a nice, quiet spot for those who like to stay away from the busier swimming lakes. The water is surrounded by forest, with a small sandy beach and plenty of space to picnic or just relax. Big advantage: dogs are allowed here, even in the summer – something not allowed at many other lakes.
